I ran out of time.

Today, I was talking about what I had to do with my roommate, Kevin. I forgot that I wanted to buy Kimchi on the 32nd street, so I told Kevin I lost my opportunity to buy Kimchi. I thought the sentence was weird, but I did not know how I could express the situation. At that time, he taught me the sentence, I ran out of time. If I need to describe the same situation, I can use the simple sentence.

Why didn't you get the Kimchi? Is it because you didn't have enough time while you were out or because you forgot?

If it's because you didn't have enough time, then "I ran out of time" is correct.

If you forgot, then you could say "I missed my opportunity" or "I lost my chance."

Wow, I did not have enough time to buy a Kimch on Saturday, because I had to go to Brooklyn with my friend. Thank you for another expression. :)
