Get a nap

Yesterday, I, Kevin, and Billy, my the other roommate, went to a restaurant with Kevin's friends. However, the place was crowded, and a service worker told us it took us two hours to eat foods. It was about 12 o'clock. We hoped to have a brunch immediately, so we decided to find another place. We reached the place, which had good smell and looked like clean tables. Friends I ordered a sandwich with coca-cola. We enjoyed it, and then we got on a subway to go each home. When we, Kevin, Billy, and I arrived our house, we felt foodcoma, so Kevin told me he was going to get a nap. I also wanted to get a short sleep. It was Saturday, so we could enjoy the time without any anxiety.

I am contemplating on if I should do my homework now, or not.

At the night, I and Kevin were talking about each other's homework. I was tired, so I wanted to go to sleep. However, I had to consider whether I can wake up in the early morning, or not. When I was pondering the correct expression about the situation, Kevin, my roommate, helped me. The sentence was 'I am contemplating on if I should do my homework now, or not.' And I searched the other synonyms such as ponder, reflect, and deliberate about contemplate.

I am going to abandon the sentences, 'I think, I believe'

In the evening, I ate the dinner in the kitchen, where we cooked, with Kevin, my roommate. Kevin is my best English tutor, because he is a native speaker and a kind person. He told me when I write essay or speak something, I don't need the sentences, 'I think, I believe'. Essay is personal writing, so I do not need to mention those again. If I want to use the sentences, I can speak when I compare my opinion with other opinions. So I don't need those any more, except for some situations.

I ran out of time.

Today, I was talking about what I had to do with my roommate, Kevin. I forgot that I wanted to buy Kimchi on the 32nd street, so I told Kevin I lost my opportunity to buy Kimchi. I thought the sentence was weird, but I did not know how I could express the situation. At that time, he taught me the sentence, I ran out of time. If I need to describe the same situation, I can use the simple sentence.

Is Jane there?

I heard that someone using this sentence in the subwaystation.
I thought that when I call someone, we just use this sentence " May I speak with someone, please?". So, I was surprised because " Is Jane there?" was so strager sentence to me. Now, I knew that. It was just difference of expression about gap of intimacy or close friendship. So, we can use the sentence " Is someone there?" between good friend or close friendship. And, If you have to do formality attitude on your phone, you have to use this sentence " May I speak with someone, please?"

Exclusive!

I watched the E! channel, and it had the word "exclusive" on the top of left hand side of the screen, and showed the news of Britney Spears.

I looked up the meaning of exclusive in the dictionary, it means a thing you can only know in this program. But I still didin't know what's the exclusive of Britney Spears.

in a nutshell

I had a roomate who has immigrated in USA.

So, I had a time to speak English because I wanted to communicate with her in English.

She used this idiom when I didn't understand what she said.

After our communication, I found this idiom's meaning by using Internet.

Finally, I know when I want to say or explain briefly, I can use this idiom.

Sober

When I went to a bar for Jiwon's party,my friend's birthday, I met Lian, an American guy. We drank a lot of beers, sakes, and sojus. He asked me "Are you O.K.?" "Are you sober?" Actually, I did not understand the word, just smailing, at that time, so I asked that when we went to go each other's house. "What is the meaning of sober?" He expained kindly the word. He thought the word is some kind of slang. The meaning of the word is not drunken. If you are sober, you can drink the alcoholic liquors more. :)

budjet

Budget is company name.
I saw signborard on my way to school.
The color of the word written on signbord is orange.
Budget means setting money plan.

Knuckle head

I head " Chicken-Head" on Sunday from an Asian-American person who studied U.S.A for a car design. If someone says something like a 5 years old child in spite of an adult Korea people says
"Chicken Head" It means foolish and stupid. However, American people says "Knuckle Head".
Sometimes, I confuse many words when watching television and movies because it is difficult to think between American people and Koean people.

new vice president candidate

on saturday,there will be a storm come in. so people are stay in home and on the way. I heard about the new vice president candidate. her name is Pallin. sheis the same party as Mcain. she has three kids. there were talking about her seventeen years old doughter pregnant. there feel bad that her family has no priracy with their private life.
